Rwandan genocide and regional aftermath

Over roughly one hundred days in 1994, extremist authorities and militias carried out genocide against Tutsi people and murdered Hutu opponents. The violence followed a long history of colonial racialization, political crisis and war, and its effects spread through the Great Lakes region.
